Were in one of those winter weather systems at the moment when the mornings are always cold and the sun always shines. Im pretty sure the weather geeks call it an anti-cyclone.
The mornings in the city have been down to a chilly 6 or 7 degrees and in the mountains below freezing. For all things outdoor its been perfect – there’s been over 80cms of snow down in the ski fields and the surf and climbing conditions have been awesome.
I spent yesterday having an easy one at Lindfield and then headed out to the trenches today. Great friction in the shade and nice in warm in the sun. Down at the beach things have been even better. A 2m+ groundswell has graced our shores over the past 24hrs and combined with the off shore winds the surf has been epic. Way too big for me to venture in so I just stood at the shore and took pictures – its supposed to get bigger tomorrow arvo so hopefully I can knock off work early! The sandbanks are holding up well giving clean glassy waves for all to enjoy. Its was busy out in the lineup and Im sure it’ll stay that way till this swell eases mid week
To top it off we spotted some whales heading past freshie yesterday morning – they were a few hundred metres out but you could clearly see the water plumes from the blow holes! All in all a perfect weekend
