Well the sun shone again and the crowds rocked up for a great day of surfing. Today saw the QF of both the Junior men and women with Matt Banting owning the mens event and a number of good performances leaving the semis up for grabs in the girls.
The guys kicked off first thing with the round of 32 and with an increase on yesterdays swell there were a number of high scores posted across all the heats and Soil Bailey from Australia posting a massive 9.9 and 7.1 to comfortably take his heat. Up against a strong field of Matt Banting, Cooper Chapman and Matty King – Manly boy Ben Penny failed to progress any further.
The day closed off with the quarter finals and featured siblings Holly-Sue and Ellie-Jean going head to head for a place in the semis. Unfortunately Holly-Sue failed to build on the days previous scores and only managed a 1.8 in the challenging late arvo conditions at Manly. That didn’t stop her having some fun and dropping in on her sisters final wave in the final seconds of the heat!
